Join the Youth Services Bureau of Ottawa (YSB) for an evening of expression.
The Art of Listening... So your teen will talk.

Wednesday, September 26th from 5:30-7:00 pm
The Ottawa Art Gallery - 10 Daly

During a time when information has never been easier to share, why are we still struggling to communicate with our kids? The teen years can be a difficult time for families, parents and teens. Are you struggling to understand your teen? Wondering how to get your teen to open up?

The Youth Services Bureau would like to invite you to a night of expression, hors d’oeuvres, cocktails and an engaging discussion on the “Art of Listening - So your teen will talk”.

This evening will be empowering, informative and essential to all those who live or work with youth. The information portion of the evening will include MC Mary Taggart, and feature the perspectives of a parent, counsellor and young person, and focus on:

  • How to get your teen to talk
  • Tools for open communication
  • How to create safe spaces
  • Ways to navigate difficult discussions
  • Where to find help

Mind Matters, formally known as Moms for Mental Health, aims to provide practical information and advice to parents, and to highlight the youth mental health services and other programs offered by YSB. Participating in this event is a great opportunity to learn more and to support YSB and our youth.

For the past three years this series has tackled issues of sexuality, depression and anxiety, stages of counselling, parenting stress and more. The series is proud to bring together experts in the field of Youth Mental Health, members from the business community, parents and educator all together to share in their experiences and look at strategies to foster healthy resilient young people.
